As someone who listens to fast, in your face music, there are times where you need an album to put you in a calm, easygoing mood. Worse for the Wear by The New Amsterdams is that album for me. The album is full of lively anthems, twangy banjoes and all in all good vibes.
The New Amsterdams are the side project of Get Up Kids front-man Matt Pryor. More of an acoustic act, the band also features other instruments that you wouldn’t find (banjos and accordions). The bands name is from Elvis Costello’s song titled New Amsterdam.
Highlights from this album are The Spoils of the Spoiled, The Smoking Gun and All Our Vice. Fans of The O.C. and One Tree Hill would recognize songs from this band, as they were featured in those series.
