Don’t you love it when clever people come up with good ideas that you can use and look clever yourself? Why reinvent the wheel, right? Marie, of Marie’s Monthly Minutes, told us about a great book club idea for The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. Larson’s book is set against the backdrop of the1893 Chicago World’s Fair and Marie says it was a great book.
Marie’s book group started off their meeting with Chicago style pizza and Pabst’s Blue Ribbon beer which was selected as America’s Best at the fair. They also snacked on Cracker Jacks which were first introduced at the fair. Scroll down this page to find a list of other introductions that you could have at your book discussion. Stanley Applebaum’s book The Chicago World’s Fair: A Photographic Record is also a handy visual guide for discussion.
