Fans of Alt’s Bewitching Mystery series will no doubt tell you that, despite the transparent mystery, this sixth installment is well worth reading for its relationship-centric plot. What that means? More Marcus! And that’s always a good thing.
So, this time around, Maggie gets an urgent call from her composed but worried mother; Maggie’s sister is in the hospital, about to give birth, and Maggie needs to get there pronto. As always, where Maggie goes, trouble follows, and she finds herself stuck in an elevator, hearing voices both real and spectral, and ends up in a leg cast. Oh, and then there’s the little problem of introducing Marcus to her family. There’s a murder thrown in for good measure, of course, but that’s really not what lies at the heart of this story. And, you know, that was okay with me.
This cozy, paranormal mystery series keeps me coming back because I feel like I know these characters. I want to find out what’s going to happen to them, what trouble Maggie’s going to find herself in next time, and most of all…more Marcus.
The library owns the entire series (and you really need to start with book one) so the next time you’re in, why not check them out?
