We may not have been able to attend BEA this year, but we were able to get the goods on several forthcoming releases from Random House. Erica McDonald highlighted books from multiple genres, including these:
Crying Tree – Naseem Rakha (July)
Dramatic, wrenching, and ultimately uplifting, The Crying Tree is an unforgettable story of love and redemption, the unbreakable bonds of family, and the transformative power of forgiveness. [At the presentation, we were told that this one would be a great readalike for those who enjoy the works of Jodi Picoult and Elizabeth Berg.]
Sacred Hearts – Sarah Dunant (July)
The year is 1570, and in the convent of Santa Caterina in the Italian city of Ferrara noble women find space to pursue their lives under God’s protection. But any community, however smoothly run, suffers tremors when it takes in someone by force. And the arrival of Santa Caterina’s new novice sets in motion a chain of events that will shake the convent to its core.
The Girl Who Played With Fire – Stieg Larsson (July)
The electrifying follow-up to the phenomenal best seller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and this time it is Lisbeth Salander, the troubled, wise-beyond-her-years genius hacker, who is the focus and fierce heart of the story.
Also coming from Random House:
Swimming by Nicola Keegan
Huge by James Fuerst
Strength in What Remains by Tracy Kidder
Chronic City by Johnathan Lethem
Homer’s Odyssey by Gwen Cooper
I’ve read Larsson’s trilogy (in french though), and I really enjoyed those, but I must say the second one was my favorite! It’s fast-moving and focussing a lot on Lisbeth, whom I really loved. Now I’m waiting to see the movie they made of the first book, the translation is coming out here soon, I think.
That’s great and impressive! I have them on my TBR list. Some day I’ll get to them. I didn’t know they made a movie out of the first book. Maybe that will be incentive to read them before the movie comes out.
The Crying Tree really was a great read. I hope you enjoy it!
