House Of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
Also Available On Libby
The first in Maas’s new adult fiction series will feel at home to fans of her YA works. This series can feel as long as it’s 803 pages but there is a big surprise payoff around page 650 if you are willing to slog through. Maas definitely capitalizes on the slow burn romance of the two main characters to keep you reading but her descriptions of their backsides get a little old. Also everyone described in this book is horribly good looking which for me, an average human reader, came off as unbelievable. The sequel in the Crescent City series, House of Sky and Breath has recently been published as well so you can continue the story if 800 pages wasn’t enough for you. There is some great fantasy politics well managed by Maas and some very interesting creatures. Even with a huge cast of characters, Maas does a wonderful job of staying true to each of their individual personalities and quirks. Lehabah is the best. Read yourself and see why.
