Lily King is a local author, having grown up on the North Shore, her father was a teacher at Pingree and she is an alumni of the school.
Her latest book Writers & Lovers is a book about grief, determination and challenging decisions. Casey Peabody, a young girl living in Brookline is mourning the unexpected death of her mother. Her life consists of massive debt, a terrible waitress job and a dream of finishing her first novel.
Casey is riddled with anxiety and sadness, but her determination to stay the course is admirable. She doesn’t take the easy path, she never quits, and it pays off.
Writers & Lovers is one of Lily King’s best, I would however recommend Father of the Rain as another great book.
