Although he was one of my favorite authors, I didn’t realize that Michael Palmer had died last Fall. He will be truly missed. As far as Resistant is concerned, it’s classic Palmer: He takes something that’s been in the news, in this case flesh eating bacteria, and gives it a unique twist like a shadowy cartel who specifically designs one that only they can control in order to force the government to abolish entitlement programs. This is also the last book to feature Dr. Lou Welcome, who I really liked as a character. I think Dr. Welcome was a bit autobiographical and it made him a very sympathetic character if you knew about Dr. Palmer’s past struggles. I believe we have lost one of the best medical thriller authors. RIP Dr. Palmer.
