It’s the last gasp of summer for Kim Larsen and her friends before they head off to college. They go for one last swim before heading home. The story that follows is full of hope, sadness, and despair.  Like Last Night at the Lobster, O’Nan manages to portray the depths of emotions of the different characters. He captures the life alterating changes that family and friends go through after the disappearance of a loved one.
