The staff here at the Peabody Institute Library had the pleasure of hearing author and Boston Globe mystery reviewer, Hallie Ephron, hold forth on the mystery genre last week. She talked about the origin of mysteries and major authors in some of the many subgenres. She was a terrific speaker and many of us were adding books to our “to be read” lists during her presentation. Ms. Ephron is the co-author of five series mystery novels featuring forensic neuropsychologist Dr. Peter Zak and investigator Annie Squires. Her latest novel, Never Tell A Lie, received a starred review in Publisher’s Weekly and has been optioned for a film. Here were some of her picks:
