From the author of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, comes this new collection of short stories. Only one of the stories features Jonathan Strange, but the rest of the stories feel like they take place in the same world. Clarke conjures up a version of 19th century England where magic and Faerie are historical subjects. The stories revolve around the occasional instances when magic enters the everyday lives of non-magic folk. There is a fairy tale quality about some of the stories. Wonderful illustrations by Charles Vess.
This sounds interesting. Have to admit, though, that the title alone is enough to grab my attention. 🙂
