Summer Reading Kick Off! Tuesday June 25th
Summer Reading Challenge sign up begins in the Children’s Room June 25th and runs through July 9th. The first 50 kids to sign up for Summer Reading will receive a free coupon to Cherry Farm Creamery. Join us that day for lawn games, spin art, an Irish dance demonstration (Registration required) and “Trail Mix! Tales for the Open Road” with storyteller Diane Edgecomb. (Registration required).
How does the Challenge work?
Ages 2-4
Kids will be given a reading game where they will color in a circle every time they read (or are read to) for 15 minutes. They can bring their summer reading game page into the library weekly to check in their progress with a librarian, receive a small prize from our treasure chest and a raffle ticket for one of our big prizes. If they have finished their reading game page they can keep it to turn it in at the end of the program, after August 9th, for a prize. They can receive a new reading game to keep working on if they want!
Ages 5 through entering grade 5
Set a weekly reading goal for yourself. Log your reading and come into the library weekly to enter raffles & collect a prize from the Treasure Chest. Read anything you’d like! Books, e-books, magazines, audiobooks, graphic novels, etc! Read at least 12 hours over the summer to earn a Topsfield Fair Prize Pack!
The last day to check in your reading and enter the raffles to win a big prize is August 9th. Raffle winners will be drawn August 16th!
Special thanks to Eva Veilleux and the Children’s Special Fund for raffle prizes.
