You’d think when A book starts with a lovely relaxing vacation in Ireland, Eve and Roarke are in for a bit of a respite from some of their misadventures. No. Of course not. Beginning with a crossbow killing of chauffeur, and proceeding to a string of many more victims, Eve and her band of merry helpers are once again propelled into a murder investigation most foul.

“Indulgence In Death” is the 31st book in J.D. Robb’s series which blends police procedural, romance, humor, suspense and even a little science fiction. For those readers who have not tried this these books yet, this is definitely a series meant to read in order. Otherwise things will get very confusing. That all said, this was not my favorite book in the series. This particular plot has not only been done before, but actually has been done in an earlier book in this particular series. But, the two villains are deliciously evil and and the author manages to add new and unique details to the plot that should capture the reader. The interesting thing that I’ve personally found about this author is that I never really get bored or fed up with her characters or plots like I do at times with other long running series. I think a big part of this is because the characters are so engaging, even the secondary ones. Actually, the most frustrating thing is that Ms Robb can’t actually manage to fit ALL of her characters into one book. Hmm. Maybe if all her fans implored her to just write one say, 800-1000 page book so we could have our fill of Mavis, Leonardo, Morris, Trueheart, Baxter, Summerset, Charles, Louise, Feeney, McNab, Peabody, Nadine, well, you see where I’m going with this. Maybe then we’d all be satisfied.
