This beautifully illustrated picture book packs a punch. Watercress can be read to younger kids but is rich enough in story to discuss with older kids, teens and adults alike. Andrea Wang tells a story about pride, family, poverty and immigration in just a few words. Winner of the Caldecott Medal for its illustrations by Jason Chin, a Newbery Honor for children’s literature and Asian/Pacific American Literature Award winner.
