It’s been ten years since we were first introduced to Harry and his friends, and what an amazing ride it’s been! I must admit it was with a fair bit of trepidation that I opened the cover and started reading the last book, in part because I feared being disappointed. After all, how could this final book possibly live up to all the hype. Well, I never should have doubted Jo. This has to be the best book of the entire series. What an absolutely brilliant way to go out. That’s not to say there aren’t some heart-wrenching moments. This is definitely the darkest tome yet and without posting any spoilers there are some characters that we have gotten to know very well over the years that perish. Yet interspersed with these are plenty of laugh-out-loud passages and quotes that fans will never forget. The epilogue perfectly ties everything together and you close the book with a sense of peace, (and if you’re like me, a great deal of crying). Now, I’m off to start the entire series again while I’m waiting for my British edition to arrive!

I had read the first few Harry Potter books and found my interest waning. With all this hype on this one, I was
determined not to be caught up in the frenzy. This review
has made me reconsider. I will be playing “catch up” so that I can enjoy this conclusion to the series.
