“The Decline and Fall of the Book Review Section…and What It Means to Publishers” was a recent headline in The Huffington Post. The writer’s summation is that it “certainly ain’t good.” What do you think? Do book review sections effect how you borrow/purchase books? Do you even read them?
I do read the book review sections of newspapers. They do influence what I read, but usually it’s a year or two (or more) later by the time I get around to a book I’ve read about.
That’s a good point. Even if it’s not by our doing, book review sections aren’t *always* known for reviewing things promptly. I, myself, hardly ever read them. But then, the types of books I read (genre stuff, mostly) are practically never reviewed in the book sections of newspapers and magazines.
